Michael Flake Director of Missions Ministry
Formalities first: my name is Michael Flake. I was born in Memphis, TN. My favorite song is Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower.” My favorite book is Thomas Schmidt’s A Scandalous Beauty. I received a B.S. in Mathematics from Davidson College in 2006 and a M.Div. from Vanderbilt University in 2009. With these dual interests in mathematics and religion, I hope to answer the question posed by Los Lonely Boys: how far is heaven?At Lake Forest, I have the privilege of leading everybody (and I mean everybody…children, teenagers, college students, and adults) more fully into the Mission of God or Missio Dei. We, at LFC, will continue to support and encourage full-time missionaries of God’s reconciling love. We will continue to join God’s mission on short-term trips around the world: from Bluefield, WV to Bolivia. And we will continue and expand our local work so that we find ourselves living in long-term relationship with the most vulnerable people in Charlotte and North Mecklenburg.
