Our Elders

Meet the 2009 Elder Nominees

Three months ago LFC Ministry Partners elected an Elder Nominating Committee (ENC) to lead a search for qualified men and women to serve as Elders for the next 3 years. This team of seven on the ENC have served us faithfully and are now asking Ministry Partners to affirm by vote three individuals to serve as Elders on Sunday, August 30.

Each of these Elder Nominees have served in various ministry leadership capacities and are of exception spiritual maturity. Please read more about their their God stories:

Call for Elder Candidates

The period for recommendations of candidates is now closed. Please pray for those who have confirmed to the Elder Nominating Committee (ENC) that they wish to continue in the exploration for Elder Candidacy. The names of recommended persons is confidential - so the ENC will not be publishing a list until they are ready to recommend a group of nominees to Ministry Partners in June.

During the month of May, prospective candidates will be praying for God’s discernment, taking counsel with others, and undergoing interviews with the ENC and the Session. Look for a new update after Memorial Day.

About the Elder Nominating Committee

The Ministry Partners of Lake Forest selected 5 individuals to serve with 2 Elders to lead the search for new elder candidates. The ENC is tasked with the job of soliciting Elder candidates and then discerning if God is calling these individuals to serve LFC at this time and in this capacity. From the pool of recommended elder candidates, the ENC will nominate up-to-3 candidates to serve for a a 3-year term. Your Elder Nominating Committee (ENC) team is Gerri Fieno, Vickie Hill, Kevin Feighery, John Kologe, and Denise Tornberg. They are serving with Ruling Elders - Rusty Andrews and Dave Gregory.

Our belief is that the Elder nominating process is God ordained and therefore His hand is upon it, shaping and forming both the committee and potential candidates to suit His will. It is abundantly clear that God is using LFC as a tool to change the world …if not our little slice of the Lake Norman area. In that spirit, we believe God will speak about who he has ordained to lead LFC forward on His mission.

About the role of Elder at Lake Forest Church

At Lake Forest, it is the responsibility of the Elders to govern the church and oversee the spiritual welfare of the congregation. All Ruling Elders are nominated and confirmed by Ministry Partners after examination by the Elder Nominating Committee (ENC).
