From time to time we all need help. Sometimes we need a helping hand, sometimes a shoulder to lean on, and other times all we need is a listening ear. Our Community Groups provide the relationships and leadership necessary to provide care for most of the needs of our people. CARE (Counseling, Awareness, Recovery, Encouragement) Support exists to serve the needs of those who are in “special care” situations. Many of these situations go beyond the scope of what the Community Group can provide.
For these situations, our CARE Support includes the following:
Counseling
Most of the time when we have an emotional need, we can lean on a friend, family member, or Community Group. Sometimes, however, we need the guidance of a professional, whether it’s to navigate a current trial or to heal from a past one. Our Pastoral Staff can assist in many situations but do not do long-term counseling. Instead they will refer many times to a competent and caring Christian counselor, psychologist, or psychiatrist for situations including, but not limited to:
- Conflict in marriage
- Family & parenting
- Addictions
- Divorce
- Depression & anxiety
- Eating disorders
- Grief/loss
Awareness
From time to time, you are not sure if what is impacting you or a loved one is beyond just having a bad day. Regularly during the year, LFC will host Awareness nights on Thursday evenings from 6-6:45pm helping you to sort out if there is something more going on than just basic hard days. Issues will include, yet not limited to, Depression, Disorders, Addictions, Grief, Anxiety, etc… Please watch our bulletin and website regularly for upcoming Awareness Nights.
Recovery
Things that affect our lives at deeper levels many times need more than just an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. They need more professional direction and insight. LFC’s counseling program is setup to give you more one on one direction and insight to put you on the road to recovery. But our Thursday PM groups are setup to help you move forward in finding freedom and healing in a group setting. Go to our website to see what groups are currently being offered. These change regularly and will include at times the following:
- Addictions: Men’s Sexual Addictions, Alcohol (AA), Al-Anon (family members of Alcoholics), Workaholics
- Disorders: Codependency (CoDa), Eating, Personality, Obsessive-Compulsive
Encouragement
There are times in life when you don’t want to walk alone. Times when you need a shoulder to lean on. Community Groups at LFC exist for this reason but many situations are beyond the ability of a Community Group to give ample encouragement. The following are Encouragement Groups that in the course of a year are available at LFC. Through specialized encouragement groups, those who are hurting receive love and Christ-centered care.
- HOPE Cancer Support
- Life During and After Divorce
- Crown Financial
- Grief Support
- Parenting your Parents
- Parents of Special Needs Kids
- Growing Successful Stepfamilies
- Prayer Support
