Purpose:
Our purpose is to bring awareness to those who may be suffering from depression (which is expressed through symptoms such as anxiety, rage, anger, etc.), in order to alleviate the stigma associated with the condition and to open up dialogue from a bio-chemical and faith perspective to dispel the notion that those with this condition are without faith.
Goal:
Our goal is to provide a caring, non-threatening place to discuss and express these concerns.
What the Group is:
- a place to help group members realize they are not alone, that there are people out there that have gone through similar issues and have come thru them successfully.
- encouragement for each other.
- a support group and not (necessarily) a recovery group.
- a place to educate and provide resources for those that wrestle with depression.
What the Group is Not:
- a substitute for professional group therapy or professional medical care. Though resources are provided, the group does not function as a referral service and is not associated with any particular medical group.
- a vehicle to “fix” anyone. However, through relationships God can work in people’s lives.
- a long-term group to settle into but a resting place to enable individuals to move into other communities.
