I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve with this amazing team of women that has already been working to build Lake Forest Women’s Ministry. As Lake Forest enters a new stage of growth, it is exciting to dream of all the ways Women’s Ministry can join in the vision for being a great place for people who have given up on church but not given up on God and making more and better disciples! My husband, John, and I moved here from Pella, IA in November 2003 and have been ministry partners at Lake Forest since spring of 2004. We have two grown boys, Jeff who lives in Kansas City, and Jordan who is currently serving in missions with Youth With A Mission out of Perth, Australia.

I love the heart, the emotion, the laughter and the vulnerability that women bring into relationships! Nothing excites me more than seeing women connect at the heart with the Lord and with other women because I know that is our deepest longing and the place where growth is most likely to happen. I look forward to seeing what God does in and through the women of Lake Forest as we learn together how to love and serve one another and the world around us.

Care Environments

I am glad to be a part of LF. My husband Matt and I have been attending here since 2001. My family has lived here since 1987-before there was anything here! I graduated high school in Charlotte and attended Liberty University in VA-go Flames! That is where I met Matt and he fell madly in love with me…and I fell for him too. We now have 2 kiddos- Berea and Benjamin. We have loved being a part of the church and met some really awesome people along the way.

My heart for ministry comes from how God has amazed me with His Word. I have been a Christ follower for as long as I can remember but not until I began to see His Word as living, active and relevant to now did my walk become transformed. I knew it was all about a relationship with Christ but I was amazed at how personal He is and how He desires me for me. His Word has been what has revolutionized me and my heart now is to help others be amazed by it and its author. I can not get enough of being with the women of LF and hearing them share how God has met them right where they are. To hear some one share their amazement when they discover something in God’s Word is my heartbeat. It is not a high and lofty experience reserved for only some. Instead, it is for anyone that seeks after Him. Our God is so amazing. What a privilege to know Him.

Beth Gregory

Beth has served Lake Forest in many ways the years she has been here–Connections Ministry, planning the Afternoon Tea and for a while she spearheaded our homeschooling ministry. She grew up in Iowa, spent some years in Kansas and is now happy to be here close to both the mountains and the beach. She is married to Dave and is a dynamic mom of 3 kids.She loves to read a good book, tandem biking with Dave, walking/running, spending one-on-one time with family members and of couse, a good mocha. Beth has an amazing ability to chat with anyone and make them feel welcome. She is a wise woman that brings alot of insight and perspective to our team.

Kim Burks

Kim has a bubbly personality and a great smile. She and husband Scott and 3 kiddos are glad to have found a home away from home- CA girl–here at Lake Forest. Like so many people at our church, they aren’t around family and church is the place they look to make friends to share life with. Kim is a busy lady staying home with her kids and making the day to day happen but absolutely loves it when she gets a chance to travel, read or hang out with her family & good friends. “I’m SO excited to get more involved in women’s ministry at Lake Forest because…building strong, Christian friendships is something that I’ve come to find is essential in my life! I can’t wait to be involved in the many opportunities that the women of Lake Forest have to bond with each other, which will only strengthen the body of Christ.” We are thrilled that God has called her to join our team.

Teresa Chelko

Teresa is a fun lady who is full of adventure and loves interesting things. She is a food stylist who’s favorite thing to do is flat water kayaking. She has 2 children and has been married to Kevin for 22 years. Teresa has such a servant’s heart and is so excited to be growing in the Lord even more since she has been at Lake Forest. She has already been serving in a lot of places at Lake Forest and truly feels called to the women’s team for this season.

Teresa said, “I feel like I am on fire, with excitement and thirst for the knowledge.” She is feeling drawn to the Scriptures unlike ever before. God is teaching her about what He created her to be and how He can use her in different ways. The women’s ministry team is a new place that God is stretching her and inviting her to grow and learn more about Himself through serving. We are so blessed to have her join us as our event detail person!
