February 17 with services every half hour from 4:30-7pm Ash Wednesday Services Prepare for Easter through participation in the ancient Christian practice of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday services at LFC on February 17. We’re offering short, intimate services on the half hour from 4:30-7pm (the last service starts at 7pm). Feel free to bring your children with you, but also know the service will be quiet and reflective for the full 25 minutes. More on Lent. |
Begins February 21 at 6pm Welcome 101 This five week class, led by our Pastoral Staff on Sunday evenings from 6-7:45pm, is a great way to explore the Christian Faith and discover how to become a Ministry Partner (Member). Limited childcare (ages 0-4) is available for the February 21 session. You must also register your child when you register for the course. Register.

Two-Part Class: February 21 and 28 from 6-9pm Class Matters This two-part course opens up the world of people in poverty, revealing how their survival-based mentality impacts learning, work habits, and decision-making. You will learn: the “hidden rules” of poverty and middle class and wealth; the assumptions middle class people bring to encounters with those in poverty; discover how grief and trauma keep many locked in poverty; and you will begin to explore practical yet compassionate strategies for engagement that can have positive impact on people’s lives. Register.

Begins Sunday March 7 from 6-7:45pm The Vulnerable and the New Testament In this three-week class, you will explore with Missions Pastor Michael Flake what the New Testament does (and does not) say about vulnerable people, including the poor, the widows, and the orphans. This course requires no previous knowledge of the New Testament and will devote time to describing its structure. Although this is the companion course to The Vulnerable and the Old Testament, it will also make sense to those who have not yet taken that Discovery Course. Register.

Sunday, March 14 Discovering Baptism If you are interested in learning more about LFC’s view on Baptism, being baptized or having your child baptized, plan to attend our baptism class during the second service (9:30am in the Resource Room). It’s a great time to ask questions. It’s also a required class for anyone who wants to be baptized at Lake Forest Church. The next public baptism service will be on March 28. Register.
