What are Local Missions?
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18
Looking for a way that you and/or your community group can be ministers and prospective ministers of reconciliation with a message of reconciliation in Charlotte and Mecklenburg?
Browse the pages on the right and you will find a potpourri of past and current opportunities, all of which we hope inspire you to be more involved in God’s mission in our community.
Specific opportunities exist to:
- Serve the homeless—
- Serve in North Mecklenburg—
-
- Overflow Women’s Shelter at LFC. At certain times throughout the year, LFC, in partnership with the Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte, hosts 12 homeless women in our building over the course of one week.
During each hosting period, we need teams of 30 people to serve at the shelter (including transportation, dinner, overnight, and relationship building). Because of the team size, no one person would be expected to be at the shelter every night of his/her week. Teams will meet approx. two times before their weeks to receive training and pray together. Email missions@lakeforest.org if interested or for more info.
