Ministry Description
Four months out of the year, for one day a month we provide warm place to stay, meals, and relationship to around 12 homeless men and women from the Charlotte area. This is a partnership with Urban Ministries in Charlotte. We also provide haircuts, wash their clothes. We love on them, give encouragement, information on where to go for housing, and give them unconditional love, mercy, grace.
Regina’s Story
My life has had many hard times and God has always been close when no one else was there. I remember telling Mike Moses, “I will not fit into Lake Forest, church is not safe.” But I was wrong. Because of Lake Forest, for the first time in my life I now know where God wants me. Because of my experiences I know first hand how the homeless feel, what they struggle with, how unsafe they feel in church with all the shame and judgment and rules and self righteous ideas we Christians have. I am honored that Lake Forest allows me to head up Room in the Inn. We have taken 3 people off the street. We have given Hope to people with no hope. What better thing could we do. My prayer is that we serve with the spirit of the Living God that reaches to the ends of the earth and that we are not limited to our way of thinking. The second part is that God will continue to teach and humble us, that He will encourage us to step out of our comfort zone to be a vessel poured out for Him. As we yield and surrender to His way of thinking the more like His image we become. So I am looking forward to seeing how God directs our people to pour themselves out for His kingdom.
Special Needs
Our ministry needs space. Ways to expand. Ways to grow and listen to how God wants us to show his love to a dying world.
Prayer Requests
Pray for wisdom on how to make the logistics of Room in the Inn smoother. To involve more people. To learn how to teach our guests to be dependent on God only, to learn how to mentor our guests, walk beside them and show them God’s truth.
