Second Harvest Food Drive

Spring Food Drive for Second Harvest - Sunday, December 7, 2008

We can reach out to people in our local community by taking time to purchase food and personal items in support of Second Harvest Food Bank. This is a great opportunity to help provide essential items for the thousands of people in need in the Charlotte area. Below, you’ll find a list of the most-needed items. Please consider how you can contribute.

For some of us, it may mean adding an item or two to our grocery list. For others, it could mean purchasing an entire week of groceries for a family. Pray, and respond to God. This simple act is also great way to engage children in giving.

Michelle Burroughs, a ministry partner of Lake Forest, is partnering with Second Harvest to complete her Girl Scout Gold Award Project (like Eagle Scout Award). Michelle’s goal is to raise 1,000 lbs. of food however her hope is to double or triple this amount. Let’s join Michelle in her efforts to provide food for the poor and homeless in our communities.

Christ has no body now on earth but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours; Yours are the eyes through which is to look out Christ’s compassion to the world. Yours are the feet with which he is to go about doing good; Yours are the hands with which he is to bless men now.
St. Teresa of Avila
