Ministry Description

Our ministry eDOT (electronic-Discipleship, Outreach, Training) is involved in helping Europeans build the church in Europe through technology. As the Technical Team leader, Courtney is involved in all the technical aspects of our ministry. Some examples of our ministry:

  • eDOT partners with European Bible schools and Seminaries in buildling their distance education programs. Courtney works with the schools technical teams to develop the infrastructure to run these courses.
  • eDOT partners with Internet Evangelists to design online mentoring systems. Courtney is integrating open source distance education tools to facilitate online discipleship training.
  • eDOT trains Eastern European Churches to use computers as outreach tools. Courtney is designing and implementing computer centers (both mobile and permanent) to be able to adapt to the different ministry needs.
  • eDOT works with partners in countries which are closed to traditional missionaries. Courtney helps implement security practices to help keep these workers safe when using technology (Email, laptops, cell phones, etc.)
  • Courtney coordinates the efforts of over 35 eDOT volunteers and looks for more ways to get volunteers involved.

Courtney & Krista’s Story

We had the privilege of being a part of Lake Forest from its very beginnings. Krista worked as the first office manager for the church and Courtney spearheaded the Middle and High School ministry for the first 6 years. Both of us grew up in Christian homes and developed an early love for missions. Krista had the privilege of growing up as a child of missionaries church planting in Ethiopia and Ghana. Courtney was exposed to missions primarily through youth mission trips throughout his teen years and then as an adult, taking teens on mission trips back to some of the areas that had so impacted his life. Throughout our twenties the Lord provided fertile training ground in church ministry and vocational jobs to prepare us to use our computer, administrative and teaching skills in Missions. By the summer of 2004, we felt God’s clear calling that the time was right.

We found out about Greater Europe Mission, a non-denominational evangelical mission begun over 50 years ago and discovered their 5 year old initiative in the use of technology to build up the Body of Christ in Europe. We are excited to see how God can use our skills and talents for His glory through this strategic and creative ministry. After raising our support we moved, with our son Alex, to Kandern, Germany in January of 2007.

Prayer Requests

  • For God to continue to break our hearts for the lost peoples of Europe and to guide our hearts and hands as we use our technological skills to share the Gospel’s transforming message.
  • Continued improvement of our use of the German language. This plays a significant part in our personal ministry where we live and in our local German church.
  • Guidance in selecting our projects. There are so many needs and opportunities throughout Europe but we want to see where God is working and join Him there.
  • Full financial support as we battle the Euro/Dollar conversion and other rising costs of living in Europe.
  • Alex as he goes to school and interacts with other children in our community.
  • Protection on our family as Courtney has some intense times of travel.
  • Maintaining knowledge of all the technology out there and how it can be used for evangelism and discipleship. Technology is changing fast and being a technology based ministry means we have to keep up with it.
