RE: Summer Short-term Missionaries Hold the First Ever missioDei Worship Service - Thursday June 12.
Individuals from the summer mission teams gathered on a Thursday evening at the end of another hot and busy day. We came together in His house and we left as a collection of closely knitted groups with purpose and a commitment. Our mutual purpose is to glorify God by being sent out share His love and touch the lives of others. Our individual commitment, made that night, is to be open to God’s direction, to allow God to mold and prepare us for service.
How did this transformation take place? How did we shake off the busyness of the day with chores still left to do at home? We entered reverently into a holy place, put on a blindfold and sat on the floor, alone with God.
As we sat in there, music and scripture reading brought a sense of peace and a reminder of who we are in Christ and that we belong to God. We were encouraged to allow God to shape us as a potter shapes clay as He prepares us for our trip ahead. We prayed together for our journeys to serve Him in Bolivia, Mexico, Jamaica, West Virginia and Pittsburgh. Afterwards, members of all the different mission teams gathered for food and conversation, and shared in our excitement for the journeys ahead. Let the molding begin!
