Poland Prison Tour: What I learned in Prison from Kyle Dillard

A few members of the church band went to Poland last week to help a local church with their prison ministry. Since none of the guys in the band had been on a missions trip I went along to help lead. The truth is I was scared. We were thrown in with a bunch of murderers, rapists and thieves and I had seen too many prison movies. I didn’t know how to act. During the first gig I kept my distance from the prisoners and kept my eyes wide open for the shank.

When the band finished playing, Kyle jumps off stage and starts shaking hands and hugging people. What was he thinking? I mean, these were bad dudes. When things settled down Kyle told us that he had made up his mind to treat these guys like Christ would treat them. I was dumbfounded. Surely common sense should prevail.

I must tell you that by the end of the week all of us were shaking hands, hugging and taking group photos with the bad dudes that I now see as God’s children. Thanks Kyle.
