Mission Bolivia 2010
Two Dates to Choose From:

Thursday, July 1 – Saturday, July 10, 2010
Thursday, July 8 – Friday, July 17, 2010

Destination & Partnership

Lake Forest Church will again be partnering with Children’s International Network (CIN) in a ministry involving homeless and orphaned children of Bolivia. This ministry takes place in Cochabamba, a city nestled in a high altitude region (8,390 ft.) of Bolivia, South America.

Objectives

Opportunities for service will exist within three main areas: medical care, construction projects and street outreach. The mission teams will work closely with the Summer Missions Coordinators at the Bolivia Life Center to complete the projects that are most needed during their visits. There will be opportunities to utilize everyone’s diverse spiritual gifts on this trip.

The team will minister to the orphaned children’s spiritual and emotional needs while at the Bolivia Life Center, as well as to the same needs of the many street children that attend Sidewalk Sunday each day. The team will organize, participate and travel to the Sidewalk Sunday School program during many of their afternoons in Bolivia.

Participants

This trip is designed for approximately 20 adult Ministry Partners and non-ministry partners who are attending LFC. As participants will work closely with the orphans, all adults on this trip should be active Christ followers. Children of team members are invited to come experience this opportunity with their family and will participate in various age-appropriate ministry opportunities and devotionals. As part of the application process, we will discuss with you the appropriateness of your child’s age for this trip. People under 18 years of age are required to travel with a parent or guardian.

Travel

Traveling to Bolivia requires a valid passport and visa for entering and departing the country. Team members who do not hold a valid passport are encouraged to apply for it as early as possible. Team members will travel together. All travel arrangements will be made by the team leader.

The Center for Disease Control recommends the following for vaccines and medications when traveling to Cochabamba, Bolivia: Tetanus within 5 years, Typhoid, Yellow Fever and Hepatitis A, Prophylaxis for Malaria.

You will be responsible for obtaining your vaccinations through your personal doctor or at an area Travel Clinic (ie. Passport Health).

Cost

The estimated cost of this trip is $2000 You will be required to pay one third of this cost - $667 - as a deposit expressing your commitment of time and resources to the trip.

From Caroline Lilly, Bolivia Team 2009

“When we arrived at the Bolivia Life Center, the boys were there waiting to greet us. They began to cheer and some of them ran on the bus and hugged us! They acted as if we had known them forever. All the judgment was gone and there was just unconditional love.”

Prayer Requests

Children’s International Network keeps their prayer requests online, go to www.cinonline.org. You can also make a donation or sponsor a child at the orphanage.
