Destination & Partnership

Lake Forest Church will be joining up with Constructores Para Cristo in a work retreat that will work side by side with a Mexican family to construct their new home. This Lake Forest Mission Team will travel to Piedras Negras, Mexico, which is in the state of Coahuila, one of the 32 states in Mexico. It is located directly across the border from Eagle Pass, Tex., which is about 150 miles southwest of San Antonio.

About the Foundation Team 1

  • Will be helping build the foundations for the homes that are built in the summer trips.
  • Will be building the foundation for the first library in Piedras Negras; This library will build hope for children through education and influence by missionary staff that is so needed in this town.
  • This trip will help us build a stronger relationship with CPC for future projects.

Objectives & Service

Mexico Missions Team will provide for physical needs of a Mexican family and communicate through bricks and concrete the real love of Jesus. Team members will encounter the poverty of a “border town,” grow closer to Christ by engaging in service, and experiencing authentic Christian community in a cross-cultural environment. This trip will be hard work but the work will produces a deeper connection to Christ as we love and serve the “least of these.” Though it will be a construction trip the main objective will be personal spiritual growth. Our mission team will build and dedicate a three-room, concrete block house. The family that will occupy the house works with the group and also provides a small portion of the cost.

Constructores Para Cristo seeks, in partnership with Mexican Christians, to provide basic housing, medical care, education and evangelism for poor, working Mexican families who often live in desperate conditions.

“The sun’s so hot I forgot to go home.” James Taylor’s song Mexico. This will be an opportunity to meet the real physical needs through real physical action in the hot Mexican sun. Through bricks and mortar you will communicate the love of Christ to a family in great need. Everyone: men and women of all ages and skill levels will work together to complete this mission.

Participants

This trip is designed for adult Ministry Partners and Non-ministry partners who are attending LFC.

Travel

Traveling to Mexico requires a valid passport for entering and departing the country. U. S. citizens do not need a visa for a stay of one month or less. Team members who do not hold a valid passport are encouraged to apply for it as early as possible. Team members will travel together. All travel arrangements will be made by the team leader. Housing is provided in a clean, air conditioned motel in Mexico that is well-known to us.

Cost

The estimated cost to be raised is $1100, which includes travel expenses and all building materials for the house we build. You are strongly encouraged to not allow finances to be the main deciding factor. If being part of the team is the right thing for you, we believe God will provide the funds, though it will take diligent work and a lot of faith on your part.
