Pittsburgh Project

High School Student Mission

Saturday, June 14 – Saturday, June 21

Destination

Lake Forest High School Youth will be joining other high school youth from around the country in Pittsburgh to work construction projects for the low income and/or elder in the center city and surrounding areas of Pittsburgh.

Objective

You will see the difference you can make in someone’s life. You will know that God worked through the relationships you built and the work you labored to finish. And you will hit the road with a map for how to make a difference in a neighborhood near you.

Partnership

We will be partnering with “The Pittsburgh Project” which was founded in 1985 with the purpose to develop servant leaders and uphold the dignity of vulnerable homeowners.

Service

A typical day at The Pittsburgh Project – Wake up early, have a great breakfast, work on a construction type projects (i.e. painting, landscaping, siding, and/or plumping) with your small group during the day, enjoy free time at the center upon our return from the project, and be entertained and informed by the evening program.

Participants

This trip is designed for students who have completed the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.

Travel

Transportation to Pittsburgh will be provided via rental vans. Team Members will travel together. All travel arrangements will be made by the team leader.

Cost

The total cost for the trip is $400. The trip cost includes transportation, most meals, and lodging. You are strongly encouraged to not allow finances to be the main deciding factor. Sponsorships are available.
